The Court of Public Opinion

The TrueJury Project

The Bar

This is a young court, built in public, and it improves the way any institution improves: by being challenged by people who know better. If you practice law, sit on a bench, or teach it, we are asking for exactly that.

What we are asking you to do

Come break things. Read a case file and tell us where the record is thin. Run the Simulator with a fact pattern from your own practice area, file opposing briefs, and see whether the panel reasons like a jury you have actually stood in front of. Read a published opinion and mark it up like an editor. Where our systems fail, we want the failure named, and we fix in days, not quarters.

Tell us what would make it better. A verdict question we framed wrong. A doctrine the ballot cannot capture. A feature a trial lawyer would actually use. The best ideas in this court so far came from outside it, and the record of every change we make is public.

What you get for it

Credit, standing, and a hand on the wheel. Substantive contributions are acknowledged on the record. Propose a case or an experiment and, if it opens, it carries your framing. And the people who help shape the court now are the ones we will keep turning to as it grows: the goal is a standing bench of practitioners and faculty who keep us honest.

What we do not offer: pay, or influence over a live tally. Verdicts belong to the jurors, misses get published next to hits, and no contributor, however credentialed, edits a result. If that discipline is why you would want to be involved, you are exactly who we are looking for.

Where to start

Write to [email protected] with the subject line "The Bar". Say what you practice or teach, and what you kicked the tires on. A bug report, a marked-up opinion, a better ballot question, a case worth retrying: all of it is welcome, and all of it gets a reply.

Teaching rather than practicing? The classroom side of the court, with free print-and-go lessons and live jury rooms, lives at Teach.
